In the “Island of La Lupe” about 3 miles from Camp Tortuguero Zacapulco Barra, a small fishing village seems to stand, it allows its visitors to see the immensity of the ocean, surrounded by new sounds: birds, insects, nocturnal animals and of course the waves. In this environment a group of artisans carve figures native of this place such as armadillos, turtles, parrots, crocodiles and shapes of shells and snails.

It is said that was founded about 50 years ago, this community was used to unload goods from the sea and were taken for safekeeping to another island adjacent to the community known as Tlacuachero Palma, where the history comes from the people known as the Secret Base used in the Second World War.

It is said that for no apparent reason the landing activities of products stopped and the people who had settled in this island also withdrew. Some people say that the occupants were of Japan and German. With the passage of time were gradually settling families who now occupy.

Today, the hospitality is an art in this community and whether you want to take a nice souvenir of the place ask to the cooperative Bays Mar. The main mission of this cooperative is to generate awareness through their craft with visitors, between people of the community and surrounding areas, the need to protect endangered species and spread the conservation of biodiversity.
