HISTORIA DE TUXTLA GUTIÉRREZ | San Marcos Cathedral

Located in Tuxtla Gutierrez at a side of the “Central Park”, it goes all the way back to the second half of the XVI century. Its dedicated to the saint of Tuxtla Gutiérrez, “Saint Marcos”.

The Dominican friars of the “Tecpatán” convent of the bishopric of the royal city of Chiapa, they built the first catholic temple in this place and they dedicated it to “Saint Marcos” the evangelist.
