Lacanjá river, green water snake

Named by the Mayans “Snake of Green Water”, the Lacanja River offers us a break in one of the 13 rustic cabins on the bank of its waters, in one of the most complete campsites, located at the southern end of the town.

Since 2000, this camp works to show the tourism the wonderful rural and cultural zone and offer activities related with adventure and ambiental interpretation.

Everything you could imagine of the Lacandon Jungle is true, from its different activities or excursions: Several trekkings through the jungle, a visit to the Maya Archeological sites, the observation of the flora and fauna, refreshing baths under waterfalls of crystalline waters, kayaking or rafting on the Lacantúm river.

The goal of this adventure is to navigate the Lacanja River during six days and to descend to a place where it joins the Lacantúm river. The challenge is to bring a light carry-on luggage, and the reward, is the magic of life in the heart of the jungle.

After an abundant breakfast, consisting of water made out of fruits, coffee, scrambled eggs, beans, tortillas and quesadillas. It is ideal for getting the strength before our very hectic journey. We start the 81 kilometers rafting tour, spending the days surrounded by exuberant vegetation, archeological remains, turquoise blue waters, lagoons that look like frozen in time and the symphony of colorful wildlife.

Back at the camp, we did not miss the opportunity to take a craft as a souvenir of a world that you can visit without too many sacrifices.

CÓMO LLEGAR

A una hora desde Palenque, por la carretera 211, tomar la desviación hacia Bonampak hasta Lacanjá Chansayab.

CONSEJOS

Gracias a su ubicación, este es un buen sitio para que los tomes como base para visitar los sitios arqueológicos de Bonamak y Yaxchilán.
