Instead of beautiful lakes where contrasts with the turquoise blue waters. We find Laguna Guineo surrounded by a complex of ruins and a number of islands with cave paintings that were part of an ancient civilization.
It is more real that Sibal owes a water-bearing system which includes 7 lagoons with the most crystal clear water you have ever seen. They are aqua colored, so clear that you can see the bottom at the naked eye. In case you are curious before visiting the site, our team did some underwater footage which will surprise you, we are sure about it; just go to www.guiachiapas.mx and enjoy them.
You can get to Sibal by taking the highway from Naha to Bonampak, from Ocosingo 91.4 km.
You should stay at a nearby place (Naha or Lacanja Chansayab) and from there you should drive, because the place does not have hotel development to accommodate visitors yet. However if you are doing the Ocosingo route, these lagoons are something truly spectacular; this is a pretty good reason of why you should not to miss the opportunity to visit them.
Local people offer you tours in rowboats that sail from a pier there; and believe us, once you are there and that you get to see the water-bearing sceneries and you listen to the stories of the submerged architectonical site, you will not regret it. Ever!
And remember to take as many snapshots as you can, otherwise, you run the risk of not having anyone believing the incredible story that you will tell about these waters once you get back home.
