Izapa Archaeological Zone
At the valley next to the Tacana volcano one of the highest elevations in southern Mexico, the mayans developed one of the most important archaeological sites where the Mixe-Zoque and Mayans lived. This place is named Izapa, considered one of the biggest religious and civic centers on the Pacific Valley.
This urban city (1500 B.C) is formed by approximately 80 structures which delimit the central plaza, mayan ball game, patios and and advanced hydraulic system for water management.
