Taller Leñateros a combination of fiber, color and textures

Right by San Cristobal de las Casas, you will find the Lenateros Workshop. At this magical place leaves and seeds are transformed in a great variety of items along with recycled materials and natural fibers.

The Mexican poet Ambar Past founded this workshop in 1975. The objective is to document, and spread the cultural values of the locals, the songs, literature, and crafts and to rescue things and traditions that are about to disappear like the extraction of color from plants.

The lenateros create, show, invent new things and work in different ways to make handcrafted paper, notebooks, solar silkscreen, wood engraving and painting with plants. The organization is pro environment, recycle and to create work of art.

Lacandones, encuentro con las raíces

Los lacandones son uno de los grupos Ètnicos más remotos que provienen de la cultura maya.

Se hacen llamar a sí mismos “hach winic”, que significa verdaderos hombres, dentro de sus actividades más reconocidas podemos nombrar la fábrica de textiles y elaboración de cerámica, flautas y piraguas, que son una especie de embarcaciones remadas por palas donde solo caben 1 o 2 personas.

El nombre Lacandones proviene desde sus comienzos, pues al principio habitaban una isla en medio del ríoo Lacantún, por lo que se les conocía como “los de Lacantum”, y con el paso del tiempo se modifico a Lacandones.

Estambul es una de las ciudades más visitadas del mundo y es que ha sido capital de tres imperios: Romano, Bizantino y Otomano. Su diversidad étnica y cultural es digna de contemplar. Mezquitas, iglesias, sinagogas y palacios históricos la convierten en un lugar mágico. El famoso estrecho del Bósforo divide a la ciudad de Estambul en dos partes y separa físicamente Asia de Europa. La ciudad vieja se encuentra ubicada en este estrecho, mientras que la parte más moderna abarca ambos lados del Bósforo.

Estambul es una ciudad demasiado oriental para ser europea y excesivamente occidental para ser asiática.
