Lighthouse, 110 years guiding sailors

The coast of Chiapas is one of the few places in Mexico that still holds countless secrets eager to be shown to the world. The suit of Chiapaneca, a term coined from the time of the Spanish Conquest, has changed its shape and color, beginning in the decade of the 40 in a single tone(monochrome) to go to the various changes in the 70´s.

In 1947 the Chiapas are embroidered dresses only in semi-shaded background (tul) white, when the creativity of a great woman chiapacorceÒa ìEloÌna RÌos Madrigalî, is manifested by the concern to do something different. A change that completely transforms the original suit in Chiapas, the idea comes and takes place, is added aniline black color when starch is being prepared and stained the point, and starched and ironed is embroidered cut nuanced. From this day started with embroidery of the city, including development of flights returned stitchand stitch meshed shading (blue) and a single color.

The result is spectacular and the acceptance of the general population, to the extent that at the time many people consider as the original suit.

Río La Venta Canyon the sacred

A river well know for its natural walls as result of a geological fracture that turned into a canyon with caves, rapids and waterfalls.

This wonderful place is great for adventurous people as it is full of activities such as hiking.  The sacred canyon belongs to the Biosfera El Ocote and itís about 75 km. long.  You can see how the walls get closer and closer making a deep dark tunnel that turns into a cave where there are no plants, and all you can hear is the different kind of birds that make that their home.

San Cristóbal de Las Casas

Colonial city that is located at 2,200 m above sea level in the central highlands of the state of Chiapas, México. This city was founded on march 31, 1528 by Captain Diego de Mazariegos, who sets the Ciudad Real de Chiapa of the spanish. It has a population of 185,917 inhabitants*.
